Chargify Features | Webhooks Click to make larger

@kennon If you’re looking for an example, @Chargify does webhooks exceptionally well - admin interface and features are great!

Webhooks are small packets of data that our servers send to your servers whenever something notable happens, like a subscription renewal or cancellation.

They are very useful for keeping your systems in sync with ours, but they can be difficult to monitor and debug. We send them to your servers, and if your servers are ready to receive them, all is good.

But if something goes wrong on either end, it can be difficult to figure out what happened. You have to wait for us to re-try later, or you have to update your database to indicate that something indeed did happen if you know that it definitely did (even though the webhook was missed).

Starting on our Small Business plan (and all higher plans), you get the Webhooks Control Panel, which allows you to see all webhooks we’ve tried to send. And starting on our Small Business Plus plan, you also get Webhooks Replay, which allows you to re-send webhooks.

  • What happens when a customer’s credit card payment fails aka "dunning"?

Online transactions fail for a few reasons: there could be a problem with the credit card used, your online payment gateway settings, or your merchant account. If it’s a problem with your customer’s credit card, Chargify will manage the entire dunning process automatically. You can send out automatic notifications when cards are about to expire and setup customized emails for different payment issues.
