Needham, MA (PRWEB) November 13, 2009 - Chargify (http://chargify.com), the recurring billing system that helps Web 2.0 and SaaS companies grow announced today that Lance Walley, co-founder and former CEO of Engine Yard, the leader in Ruby on Rails automation and management technologies, will join Chargify as CEO effective immediately.
“As CEO of Chargify, I can have a real impact on the success of other entrepreneurs,” said Lance. “Chargify is a lot like Engine Yard in that both companies allow entrepreneurs to focus on what’s important while letting topic experts run other critical parts of the business.”
Lance is a technology start-up veteran who co-founded his first company, Parallax, in 1987. In 2001, Lance founded Quality Humans, a Perl and Ruby on Rails consulting company. His consulting experience led him to identify a need among early Rails clients for deployment and scaling services, and in 2006, Lance co-founded Engine Yard. As CEO of Engine Yard, Lance fostered rapid growth and implemented a strong management team. In 2008, the company received venture investment from Amazon, Benchmark and NEA.
“We’re very excited to have Lance join the Chargify team,” said David Hauser, Founder of Chargify and Grasshopper Labs. “We’ve seen amazing growth in a short period of time, and Lance’s involvement will only accelerate that. Lance is an experienced entrepreneur with strong ties to the Ruby on Rails community, which is just one of many development communities Chargify will serve. ”
Chargify changes the way businesses look at the billing process by offering powerful tools that provide insight into customer behavior. A real-time dashboard and intuitive user interface make it easy to access data about revenue, signups, and cancellations. Chargify automatically analyzes customers’ billing data, helping to uncover trends that will in turn inform business decisions. Chargify also gives entrepreneurs the power to increase revenue and optimize conversions by testing different subscription plans and freemium pricing models.
In addition to Chargify’s business intelligence tools, the company offers a pricing model unlike other companies within the recurring billing industry. It’s also the only billing system that permits unlimited customers.
“When I was CEO of Engine Yard, I saw hundreds of developers who were creating recurring revenue businesses and they’d have to write the billing management systems over and over. That’s not good,” said Lance. “Billing is critical, but writing a billing management system is a distraction and usually an afterthought. With Chargify, entrepreneurs have access to a powerful tool that manages everything for them.”
With Chargify, getting started is free, and there aren’t set-up or transaction fees, or even contracts to sign. While other industry players might charge per transaction, based on a tiered transaction pyramid, percentage of total dollars billed, or even an overage charge for clients billed over an allotted amount, Chargify makes it simple and only focuses on one thing: how many paying customers you have. Even if you’re just starting out and only have 15 clients, Chargify can work for you. In fact, service is free up the first 50 customers.
